Abstract

Nine sulfur-containing acetylenic compounds were isolated and characterized as constituents of Arctium lappa L. The acetylenes named arctinone-a, b (I, II), arctinol-a, b (III, IV), arctinal (V), arctic acid-b, c (VI, VII), methyl arctate-b (VIII) and arctinone-a acetate (IX) were found to be 5'-(l-propynyl)-2, 2'-bithienyl-5-yl derivatives on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic evidence. © 1986, Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry.
