Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pembelajaran menulis dan mendeskripsikan karakteristik teks cerita pendek kelas IX MTs Negeri 4 Jembrana di era COVID-19. Pendeskripsian pembelajaran meliputi tahap pelaksanaan pembelajaran, penilaian pembelajaran dan problematika pemblejaran menulis teks cerita pendek di era COVID-19. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tahapan pelaksanaan pembelajaran menulis teks cerita pendek terdiri dari kegiatan pendahuluan, kegiatan inti, dan kegiatan penutup. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran menulis terdiri dari tahap pratulis, penulisan, dan pascatulis. Tahapan pembelajaran menulis teks cerita pendek menggunakan pendekatan saintifik dengan pola mengamati-menanya-mencoba-mengomunikasikan. Pada kegiatan penilaian dengan menilai sikap peserta didik selama kegiatan pembelajaran dan penilaian keterampilan dari hasil tulisan cerita pendek peserta didik. Pendeskripsian karakteristik teks cerita pendek terdiri dari tema, struktur (abstrak, orientasi, komplikasi, dan resolusi), dan kaidah kebahasaan (sudut pandang pengarang, konjungsi kronologi, dan penggunaan dialog). Problematika yang dihadapi pada pembelajaran menulis teks cerita pendek di era pandemi dialami oleh pendidik dan peserta didik berupa problematika pada tahapan pembelajaran dan penilaian pembelajaran menulis teks cerita pendek di era COVID-19. Kata kunci: pembelajaran menulis, pembelajaran daring, karakterisik teks cerita pendek Teaching Writing Short Story Texts for Class IX of State Islamic Junior High School This study aims to describe the learning of writing and the characteristics description of short story texts for class IX MTs Negeri 4 Jembrana in the COVID-19. The description of the learning includes the stages of implementing learning, learning assessment, and learning problems in writing short story texts in the COVID-19. This research is qualitative research with a qualitative descriptive type of research. Results of this study show that the implementation stages of learning to write short story texts comprise preliminary activities, core activities, and closing activities. The learning implementation of writing comprises the pre-writing, writing, and post-writing stages. The stages of learning to write short story texts use a scientific approach with a pattern of observing-questioning-trying-communicating. In the assessment activities, assessing the attitudes of students during learning activities and assessing skills from the results of writing short stories of students. The description of the characteristics of the short story text comprises the theme, structure (abstract, orientation, complication, and resolution), and linguistic rules (author’s point of view, chronological conjunctions, and use of dialogue). The problems faced by educators and students in learning to write short story texts in the pandemic era are problems at the learning and assessment stages of learning to write short story texts during the COVID-19.
