Abstract

The first reports on the effects of olfactory deprivation on pigeon homing behaviour which date back to the early '70s, soon gave impetus to the research on the role of olfaction in navigation. Many pieces of evidence presently available concerning the way in which pigeons acquire and use olfactory map. The aim of this map is to present the most recent and significant expertiments of our research group and to compare them with those obtained in other laboratories
