Abstract

In deep ocean waters, cadmium appears to behave similarly to dissolved inorganic phosphate. Hence, a historic record of cadmium concentrations in the overlying waters preserved in oceanic sediments offers one a method of reconstructing ocean circulation. Reports the first attempt to apply this technique to sediments of the Peruvian shelf, a more complex oceanographic and geological environment than the deep ocean. -from Authors
