Abstract

In this study, a method to predict the ultimate deformation is developed for reinforced concrete columns under seismic loading. The proposed sectional analysis or fiber model was combined with the truss mechanism approach in order to predict strength and deformation for both pre-peak and post-peak behavior. The proposed model is more effective at predicting the load deformation response of FRP-jacketed RC columns and shows that the fiber with a high rupture strain can provide good ultimate ductility. © Tsinghua University Press, Beijing and Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2011.
