Abstract

The significance of career guidance has been growing at different rates in different sectors, both in terms of how it is perceived by individual workers and by the institutions which employ them. Public sector career guidance has been recognized as valuable and has been promoted in a broad range of European and national initiatives for the past two decades. Nonetheless, national policy legislating when and how a public service employee should receive information on professional development during their career is thin or does not exist. This paper analyses responses from 749 employees from four European member stated and Turkey and suggests IT solutions for improving correctional staff performance by implementing support systems such as mentoring platform developed after the survey analysis.
