To enable different technical departments to learn from each other in their process work or ideally to complement each other, a better understanding of each other's intentions in process work has to be developed. For the primary disciplines of process documentation, process optimisation and process control, essential context situations are illustrated and the necessary levels of detail as well as the bridge to IT design are discussed. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.
