Abstract

The vela quadra (square sail)flap was initially used for the management of posttraumatic neuromas of the median nerve of the wrist:it is a vascularized fascio-ad-ipose flap aimed at covering the median nerve in the particularly critical area of the wrist which is anatomically more exposed to traumatic and iatrogenic lesions. We subsequently extended this technique to the management of recalcitrant neuropathies following surgical neurolysis of the median nerve. © 2007 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
