Abstract

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) presents a special set of circumstances for sustainable long-term development and economic growth. In this paper, quality management in the mining and industries have been identified such circumstances. More specifically, this paper examines the level of integration of quality management practices in UAE’s mining and construction sectors. Using a literature-based approach, the paper identifies the common factors that lead to failure during project management. Recommendations are also offered accordingly. Also, this paper concludes that although there is a general awareness of the need for quality management in the UAE, quality related issues are not uncommon in both industries. Moreover, delays and poorly structured processes are the main issues causes of low quality projects.
