Structural modelling of porphyry copper deposits reveals the common features of stockworks. They are concentric in plan with a decrease outwards in Cu concentration. It is shown that the morphology of ore stockworks is determined by the form of the stock roof. The prototype 'egg in a wineglass' structure is seen at Almalyk, with low-grade surrounding high-grade ore.-R.E.S.
