Abstract

In the context of public passenger transport by road, the surveillance of the transport network is a responsibility of transport authorities and companies. In the context of intercity transport, there are isolated places where this task is difficult to carry out due to lack access to basic resources such as electricity and communications. In this paper we present an intelligent surveillance system proposal for such places, that is able to monitor selectively and autonomously, making use of the on-board equipment: tracking system, image sensors and communications system. This paper describes how these elements have been combined to implement a surveillance system with the ability to recognize the different physical contexts in the transport network.
