Sex plays a large role in our physical and mental health. However, areas of health pertaining to sex and sexuality can be a difficult topic to navigate with emerging adults. Many students enter college without adequate sexual health knowledge and subsequently often engage in sexual behaviors that place them at increased risk for unintended health outcomes. College health centers should enhance sexual health resources to improve overall sexual health, increase safer sex behaviors, and reduce sexually transmitted infections and HIV transmission. Creating standard procedures for screening all patients for intimate partner violence and sexual violence and offering services such as HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and gender-affirming hormones show a campus' dedication to improving sexual health among students.
