LiUO3 was prepd. from Li2UO4 and UO2 in quartz ampuls at 400-700° and analyzed. The red-violet powder was not suitable for single-crystal x-ray diffraction work. Investigations with the use of powder diffraction patterns led to the following structural parameters (R = 0.099 and 0.11): rhombohedral LiUO3 has LiNbO3 structure with a 5.901 A., α 54°36', Z = 2 and space group is C63-R3c; d. calc. 7.67 and pycnometer d. 7.46.
