Abstract

An overview of vehicle emissions, ambient concentrations, and atmospheric chemistry of NO, NO2, and N2O is presented. We start with a discussion of air quality standards and trends in NO2 levels. We then discuss the formation of nitrogen oxides in vehicle engines, technologies used to control emissions of nitrogen oxides, and the trends in vehicle emissions. © Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht 2013.
