Abstract

It is generally prescribed that XP be adopted in full. However, a review of existing XP adoption case studies suggests that full adoption is exceptional; most companies adopt XP only partially and they adapt XP to fit existing practices and philosophies. Drawing on interviews with industry participants, the paper recommends using XP as a ‘tool kit’ of techniques and philosophies.
