Shifting from head-mounted display to smart devices, there is a new context for augmented reality and its applications. This paper describes a project aiming to re-examine factors of smart-devicebased augmented reality and its applications as a tool to support collaborative design and communication, leading to a redefinition of augmented itself and a theoretical framework based on the relationship between virtual content, screen and the body.
