Abstract

We present a dynamic wireless resource management scheme considering the call level QoS and mobility characteristics for multimedia services in wireless communication networks. The objectives of proposed scheme are to improve the utilization of wireless resources and to reduce the blocking probability of new call while guaranteeing the required QoS of handoff calls with various service classes. The wireless resources are reserved preferentially for handoff calls in order to provide their required call level QoS. Those resources can also be dynamically allocated as much as request probability of each class for new calls. The request probability of each class is determined by using the mobility characteristics, channel occupancy, and correction factor of each classes to keep the new call blocking proability as low as possible.
