Abstract

The purpose of present analysis is to predict the progressive deformation behavior (using two different models) of thin hollow cylindrical shell subjected to cyclic variation of temperature due to level fluctuations. The loading condition simulates the effect of sodium free level fluctuations in a 1/25th scaled down model of Prototype Fast Breeder Reactor (PFBR) main vessel (assumed smooth) with 500 mm OD, 600 mm height and 1 mm thickness. Further, progressive deformation behavior is analyzed with different frequency of level fluctuation by varying the cycle time (CT) considering different models.
