Abstract

Although e-learning have been widely used at schools, universities and other institutes, some obvious shortcomings have been recognized. Current e-learning platforms are developed using existing technologies and compensate for the disadvantages of traditional education methods. However, most of them are not flexible and efficient enough to support real world teaching and learning. In this paper, we present flexible and hierarchical reusable dynamical software architecture for e-learning platforms and an approach of software components integration based web services. We also analyze how this architecture can facilitate a web-based e-learning system development. © 2008 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.
