Abstract

First impressions are very important and, when these are negative, they can adversely affect a manuscript's journey through the scientific publication system. This short guide highlights some crucial factors to take into consideration before submitting a manuscript for review in a scientific journal. The aim is to advise authors on the best way to present their research, to comply with formal requirements of a journal and to optimize the first impression made.
