Abstract

E-health effectively uses information and communications technology to support health-related services for its users. The primary objective of an e-health system is to manage e-health information of individuals and provide them better health services. In recent time, personal health record evolves as the most accepted patient-centric model for e-health system. It is a collection of private health-related information of an individual. A recordmanagement system for personal health records is called personal health record management system (PHRMS). A cloud-based PHRMS allows a user with limited configured device to store, share, and update her personal health record in a cloud, and access medical services online anytime and from anywhere. Although it provides many essential features, security, and privacy of personal health record are the major concerns for its owner due to the presence of untrusted cloud service provider. In this chapter, we give a detailed survey on existing PHRMSs with respect to the security and privacy features they are providing.
