Abstract

Moyamoya disease (MMD) is an uncommon pediatric neurological disease characterized by bilateral spontaneous stenosis or obstruction of the intracranial arteries at the base of the brain and extensive collateral vessels (moyamoya vessels). These moyamoya vessels are dilated medullary arteries which provide collateral circulation to the brain. © 2010 Springer-Verlag Tokyo.
