Abstract

This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: To assess the effectiveness and safety of diaphragm-triggered non-invasive respiratory support on neonatal outcomes in preterm infants (< 37 weeks' gestation) when compared to other non-invasive modes of respiratory support (NIPPV, nCPAP, HFNC). Effectiveness and safety will be assessed for all other non-invasive modes of respiratory support. Preterm infants with birth weight less than 1000 grams or less than 28 weeks' corrected gestation at the time of intervention will be analysed as a sub-group. We will also assess effectiveness and safety based on the indication for respiratory support.
