Abstract

The possibility that the thermal cycling of supercooled austenite, within the bainite transformation range, accelerates the kinetics of decomposition, is investigated both by analysing previous work and by conducting a series of new experiments. The cyclic variations in temperature do not seem to anomalously affect the rate of transformation. © 2010 Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.
