Abstract

Pes cavus, or a high arched foot, is rarely seen at birth or in the first year of life unless it is part of a severe congenital talipes equinovarus. There is a rare, benign form of high arched foot called pes arcuatus; this is occasionally seen as an isolated abnormality in the first year of life and resolves spontaneously. Cavus deformity of the foot develops in the majority of cases in the first or second decade of life. © Springer-Verlag London Limited 2010.
