Abstract

The paper describes EASE- an ultra-lightweight software engineering process model that specifically targets student projects in higher education. The model has been obtained by analysing the requirements of student projects and then carefully combining relevant concepts from state-of-the-art software management concepts. Recommendations ate given for structuring the course as a whole, as well as managing the work. The latter is oriented towards mature andragogical methodologies. EASE has significantly improved the learning outcomes in both undergraduate and graduate courses and the paper proposes that it should be adapted and trialled in secondary education and industrial training environments. © 2003 by Springer Science+Business Media New York.
