Abstract

Based on Law no. 26 of 2007 concerning spatial planning, the minimum proportion of green open space is 30% of the city area. Green open space in Garut Regency has currently only reached 22%. One of the TRHs in Garut Regency, namely The Kerkof City Forest currently tends to be neglected. The Kerkof City Forest cannot be utilized optimally because of its poor condition and the lack of facilities and infrastructure within it. The non-optimality of the Kerkof City Forest raises research questions, namely how to improve the design of the Kerkof City Forest as a strategy for sustainable environmental development? The research method uses a deductive method which refers to several theories as parameters, including Herman Daly's theory as a guide in implementing sustainable environmental design. Government Regulation no. 06 of 2007 concerning forest governance and forest management plans as guidelines for improving the design of the Kerkof City Forest. Improvements to the design of the Kerkof City Forest apply sustainable environmental principles which include ecological, social and economic elements as well as the arrangement and type of vegetation, provision of supporting facilities and waste processing as well as improved circulation.
