Abstract

The parametric equations of plane curves are studied by all engineering and computer science students in the first semester of mathematical analysis course. Managing objects containing a parameter is usually difficult for students, so we developed a game-based learning program for parametric equations of curves, because active teaching methods provide strong support in motivating Generation Z students. In the Parametric Graph Project, we use the principle of operation of Spiropraphs, however, the curves are plotted using LEGO gears. In this paper, we summarize the results of this teaching experiment.
