Tuberculum sellae meningiomas represent a distinct group of tumours, which arise from the tuberculum sellae, chiasmatic sulcus, limbus sphenoidale or diaphragma sellae and grow in a subchiasmal position. This type of tumour was often mixed with other meningiomas occupying the suprasellar area, although with different dural origin, i.e. The frontobasal dura, anterior clinoid process, medial sphenoidal ridge or even the olfactory groove. Due to the distinct dural attachment, tuberculum sellae meningiomas grow in such a direction that the optic nerves and chiasm are elevated or displaced with increasing size of the tumour. In the literature, tuberculum sellae meningiomas comprised approximately 5-10 % of intracranial meningiomas [ 2, 15, 27, 30, 32, 39 ].
