Abstract

Being aware of their surroundings or unfamiliar environments is very crucial for the blind and visually impaired. Earlier works to introduce a system to enable blind navigation included tactile paving detection, ultrasonic sensor blind walking stick, etc. In recent times, with building complications newer systems have been introduced, which include RFID based audio guidance cane and cloud computing based context aware blind navigation system. Being aware of one’s surroundings is a critical aspect of safe navigation. In this paper, we look at the working of these methods and review these systems based on several parameters. This paper will have four sections: Introduction, Blind Navigation Systems, Analysis, and Conclusion.
