Abstract

The twenty-first century has witnessed significant shifts related to community violence that has created a need for greater awareness of the character and nature of violence in our communities and in our schools. It has necessitated innovative prevention programs to foster resilience, along with intervention programs that aid children who are struggling to cope with the challenges faced by those confronted with various forms of school-related violence. Further, it must foster the development of prevention intervention programs aimed at reducing the occurrence of violence in our schools and communities. Examined in this chapter are the definition, scope, risk factors, intervention strategies, prevention goals, and public health initiatives aimed at the prevention of school-related violence.
