Abstract
A relative of the better known carnaúba palm from which a valuable wax is obtained for car polish, the main uses of Copernicia alba are to make posts and to obtain fiber from the fronds for weaving. In some areas, the fruits are eaten and the heart of palm is harvested. The palm is found in southwest fringes of the Amazon Basin.
