This study aims to find the correlation of Paulo Freire's thoughts on educational practices in Indonesia, especially regarding the "Kurikulum Merdeka" policy and Paulo Freire's offer of the problems faced in our education world. The method used in this research is a literature study where the researcher collects various research sources and other references that can be used to explain and solve the problems raised. The problem raised in this study relates to the practice of implementing a curriculum that is not evenly distributed due to resources that do not allow standardization. Analysis of research based on the critical pedagogy from the Philosopher, Paulo Freire. The results showed that there was a correlation between Paulo Freire's thinking and the "Kurikulum Merdeka". The important point that becomes the fulcrum is that freedom and independence to get an education is the right of every citizen. However, it is necessary to consider the characteristics of the region, especially in favor of the community and the region is still lagging in the world of education. The recommendation put forward to the government is that education should be distributed to accelerate development in underdeveloped areas.
