Abstract

After osteosynthesis of the proximal humerus by K-wires, loosening and secondary loss can occur. This study tested primary fixation of intramedullayr nails made from a shape memory alloy (SMA) Nitinol® (NiTi), compared to conventional steel nails by rotational tests. We found that NiTi-nails have less rotational stability.
