Abstract

Part III takes up three senses that affect human and nonhuman animal communication in interesting ways, even though humans are generally not aware of the information these senses provide. Thermoception is the ability to detect heat of varying degrees in the world, and in some cases inside the bodies of other creatures. Some of the best thermoreceptors are animals like pit vipers, which humans have only been able to emulate in the creation of heat sensing devices and technologies.
