Abstract

The beginning of wide-scale changes in the structure of the Black Sea in comparison to the 1960s was initiated by an increase of amount of entry of nutrients with river runoff in the 1971–1975. This was the result of widespread use of mineral fertilizers. The construction of dams of rivers entering the Black Sea changed the waterflow regime and decreased the amount of solid load.
