Abstract

Outlines the geology, and reconstructs the Mesozoic geological history of the eastern part of New Guinea, groups of small islands to the south-east, the islands surrounding the Bismarck Sea and Bouganville Island. Emphasises the tectonic and structural setting of the area in its position astride the junction between the Indo-Australian and Pacific plates. Presents a sequence of palaeogeographic maps covering the time period from Triassic to Upper Cretaceous.-after Authors
