Abstract

The etiology of LBP is complex and involves multiple factors, with disk degeneration of the lumbar spine being a major contributor. This chapter aims to equip readers with a basic understanding of genetics and introduce the principles and findings of genetic studies in lumbar disk degeneration (LDD), following a general framework for genetic studies of all complex diseases.
