This reflection article is the result of questions on the assessment of risk of falls in older people, and on the tools available to measure it. Therefore, it aims to reflect on the need to construct an evaluative tool in the risk of falls in older people. Such tool can facilitate the identification of risk factors for falls and, thereafter, the proposition of effective interventions in preventing falls in older people, with a view to preserving their quality of life, maintaining their safety, not institutionalization and, consequently, costs reduction for health care secondary and tertiary.
