Abstract

This paper discusses the role of robots in remote education. There are three different aims of robot edutainment, i.e., Learning on Robots, Learning through Robots, and Learning with Robots. The last is to apply human-friendly robots instead of personal computers for computer-assisted instruction. Especially, natural communication capability is required to educational robots in the learning with robots. In this paper, we apply human-friendly robots to remote education and discuss the requirements and specifications of robots for the remote education. © 2009 Springer-Verlag.
