Abstract

Production of environmental friendly cement-bonded panels (CBPs) for internal and external purposes from lignocellulosic materials has come under limelight as a consequence of the demand for environmental friendly high strength construction materials. Moreover, environmental concern about the disposal of waste materials, their low cost, and availability has renewed attention on quality CBPs. This book chapter provides an overview on development of cementbonded panels using assorted range of lignocellulosic materials. Different manufacturing parameters of CBPs such as pressing temperature and pressure, curing time, particle size, mixing ratio, and additives are discussed in this chapter. In addition, the physical, mechanical, and biological properties along with the availability of raw materials for different type of CBPs are also reported. The environmental friendly cement-bonded panels not only provide a solution for lowering environmental pollution but also ensure sustainable use of natural resources and thus, results in high strength construction materials.
