Abstract

Tuberculous bacilli have lived in symbiosis with mankind since time immemorial. At present there are nearly 30 million people suffering from tuberculosis worldwide, and of these 1-3% have involvement of the skeletal system. Tuberculosis will exist for as long as there are pockets of malnutrition, poor sanitation, and overcrowding. © Springer-Verlag London Limited 2010.
