Mobile resources such as smartphones and mobile links are quite different from the fixed resources from the viewpoint of processing power, battery power, and bandwidth. Since the mobile resources are more limited and dynamic than the fixed resources, realtime characteristics of the corresponding resources need to be timely reflected so as to support the quality of service of bandwidth-intensive and high power-consuming P2P(peer-to-peer) live video streaming applications. This paper will concentrate on analyzing the characteristics of mobile resources, mainly focusing on the processing power of smartphone, mobile WiFi bandwidth, and battery power which need to be importantly taken into consideration for mobile P2P live video streaming. Based on the analysis of those mobile resources, how to support quality of service for mobile P2P live video streaming will be also briefly discussed in this paper. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2014.
