Abstract

Examined in this chapter is an exploration of what bullying is along with its incidence and prevalence in our culture. To better understand this, the authors provide perspectives from the victimizer, the victim, and from the fidelity of laws and policies. A typology of bullies is examined along with the design of a program intended to reduce and prevent bullying in schools. The essential elements of the program are provided along with program targets for educators and researchers to consider in future efforts targeting bullying prevention. The lessons learned and suggestions for further study are discussed with the goal of effective school-based prevention interventions.
