Ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) is defined as pneumonia developed within 48 to 72 hours following intubation and mechanical ventilation in a patient without pneumonia before intubation. Research shows that ventilator-associated pneumonia rates are still high in intensive care units. Ventilator care bundle has been created in order to reducing the complications of patients depend on ventilation in intensive care units, achieve the desired results in patient care and increase compliance with the procedures that should always be applied in the same way. Ventilator care bundle includes 35-45° head of bed elevation, daily sedative interruption and daily assessment of readiness to extubate, peptic ulcer prophylaxis, deep vein thrombosis prophylaxis and daily oral care with chlorhexidine. It is known that regular and careful use of the ventilator care package has a positive effect on patient outcomes.
