O bjective: To determine the relationship between therapeutic adherence and related variables in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Sergio E. Bernales Hospital. M ethods: Correlative, prospective study. It was performed in the Endocrinology office of the Sergio E. Bernales Hospital. Participants: patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Interventions: According to the selection criteria, 195 patients were obtained. Validated collection instruments were used and interviewed for 4 months. The descriptive analysis was carried out; for the inferential analysis the Spearman correlation coefficient was used. The statistical packages SPSS and Microsoft Excel were used. R esults: The average age found was 58.78 years, being obesity (44 %), and arterial hypertension (47.7 %) the most frequent diseases. The majority of patients had a poor patientdoctorrelationship, abadenvironmentalenvironment, and at least one comorbidity. Few patients did an adversereactiontothemedicine. Thevariablesrelated to the adherence to the treatment in adult women with diabetic patients were the better the environmental environment the patient will have a better adherence (p<0.05). Likewise, when the elderly patient presents a greater number of comorbidities, less will be the adherence to treatment (p<0.05). Conclusions: The better the environmental environment, the better the therapeutic adherence in adult female patients with DM2. Likewise, when the elderly patient with DM2 presents a greater number of comorbidities, there is less adherence to treatment.
