Abstract

The article discusses a report on human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) prevalence and behaviors among persons who inject drugs (PWID) in 20 cities in the U.S. in 2012. Topics covered include the role of the National HIV Behavioral Surveillance (NHBS) system of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the study, and the percentage of PWID included in the behavioral analysis who reported sharing syringes and those who had vaginal sex without a condom in the previous 12 months.
