Abstract

Hyponatremia is a common electrolyte disorder among both ambulatory and hospitalized patients. This teaching script leads the reader through a systematic approach to this problem. We discuss the appropriate rate of correction for hyponatremia. We describe how to use volume status and laboratory studies to identify the cause of hyponatremia.
