Abstract

The development and preclinical testing of endoscopic ultrasound began in 1980. Since then, following the introduction of endoscopic ultrasound into clinical practice, several improvements have been introduced in both technology and devices. This chapter summarises the current portfolio of ultrasound processors that are available in the market, according to the main manufacturers (Fujifilm, Olympus-Aloka and Pentax-Hitachi). A brief comparative chart of the echoendoscopes has also been reported in the form of a table.
