Main goal of autonomous robot is to reach the destination by traversing through optimized path defined according to some criteria without any collision with the obstacle which may come in its path. Hence, Path planning and obstacle avoidance is the backbone of Autonomous Mobile Robot. Several algorithms have been proposed by various researchers for path planning and obstacle avoidance having several advantages and limitations. In this survey paper, we have mainly discussed about different algorithms for robot navigation with obstacle avoidance. We have also compared various algorithms and by indicating their characteristics; advantages and disadvantages along with simulation results.
